Intoxicated male refuses to leave restaurant

Cold Lake RCMP received a call for service at 5:30 pm on February 10th, from Boston Pizza. Cold Lake RCMP S/Sgt., Jeremie Landry, explains, “we got called to an unwanted intoxicated male. Who had paid his bill, but then refused to leave and was bothering those who were eating.”

RCMP attended the restaurant and attempted to arrest the male. “A bystander assisted police to get him in handcuffs and under control,” Landry explains the male resisted arrest; however police prevailed and were able to take him into custody.

Charges are pending against a 48 year old male from Cold Lake, for resisting arrest, causing a common nuisance, failing to comply with an undertaking and mischief under $5,000. The mischief charge comes from preventing lawful enjoyment for the people who were eating at the restaurant. S/Sgt. Landry explains, “mischief can be damage to property or it can be preventing the lawful enjoyment or use of property.” The latter pf which the male is accused.

“He was released on a recognizance to attend court, so charges have not been sworn yet,” without charges being sworn before a court, S/Sgt. Landry is unable to reveal the suspects identity. The man’s court date is not known at this time.
