Lakeland Co-op fuels Volunteerism

Thankful tankfulls promotion awards free gas to community-minded citizens

After only a few months in operation, the Lakeland Co-op’s new gas bar is giving back to the community, with a new promotion that’ll surely help fuel volunteerism in the Lakeland. The gas bar is giving away three free tanks of gas (up to 100 litres) to lucky community-minded citizens. Mario Bouvier, General Manager, of the Lakeland Co-op says the gas bar would like to recognize the volunteers that fuel the community.

“We are committed to investing we work, live and play. We wanted to recognize the backbone of community (volunteers),” Bouvier says that people are asked to nominate a volunteer by stopping by the Co-op gas bar. Drop off a nomination by creating a write up on why you think a community-minded individual deserves a free tank of fuel. Drop it off at our Lakeland Co-op Gas Bar/C-Store and the lucky winners will be announced every Monday expiring on February 17th, 2017.

“Our business has been built on the foundation of community involvement and service,” Bouvier explains the Lakeland Co-op serves the community and is invested in its growth, “we care about and support what matters to you and the communities in the Lakeland area.” There are many examples of the community coming together, the most recent example Bouvier says truly displays the spirit of the town would be the World Jr A Challenge. “Just look at the huge success of the WJAC week-long event. You can only make an event of that size be that successful with volunteers. There are many examples of this in large and small scales. Such as, the rodeo and chuck wagon event in the summer, 4-H, Knights of Columbus Christmas Food Hamper Drive, coaches of sport teams etc.”

To enter someone in the contest, drop your nomination write up off at the Lakeland Co-op Gas Bar, 6120 54th Avenue, Bonnyville. The write up must be 50 words minimum in length and must include your name, the name and contact number of the individual nominated, and an explanation of why you think they deserve to win. The contest will run for the next four weeks with three lucky winners per week to receive a free tank of gas/diesel (maximum 100 litres). Contest expires February 17th, 2017.
