Hockey Alberta is celebrating the Female game with its inaugural Hockey Alberta Day, on Saturday, January 21, 2017 and Bonnyville and the Lakeland Jaguars are joining in the celebration! There will be great events for girls of all ages, says Devin Dutertre, female atom/peewee Director for Bonnyville Minor Hockey Association (BMHA).

“The day’s events kick off with a free fun skate for initiation and novice aged female players (ages 5-8) from across the Lakeland area,” Dutertre says the fun skate is open to other towns, so feel free to join the fun in Bonnyville. “Whether your daughter plays hockey or has always wanted to try it, all girls aged 5-8 are welcome to join in the fun!” Dutertre asks that if you are interested in having your daughter attend the free Fun Skate to email registrar@bonnyvilleminorhockey.ca for a registration form.

“Following the Fun Skate is a full day of Jaguar Hockey, with all 4 Jaguar teams hosting home games including a peewee double header!” The female teams in the Lakeland are called the Jaguars and are made up of players from Bonnyville, Cold Lake, Pierceland and surrounding communities.

The best part of the entire day is that it’s free, says Dutertre, “all events take place at the Bonnyville Centennial Centre and are free of charge, so come on out to see what female hockey is all about in the Lakeland area and cheer on our Jaguar teams!”
