UPDATE:

On Jan. 13, 2017 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Bonnyville RCMP were alerted to a possible child abduction outside one of the local schools on 49th Ave where it appeared a female child had been taken in a white Ford cube van against her will.  Bonnyville RCMP initiated an immediate investigation and utilized the assistance of Cold Lake, Elk Point & Lac La Biche Detachments and several road blocks were set up around the detachment area.

It was determined a short time later that the reported van belonged to a sports team filled with young girls. One of the girls in the van was the female reported in the child abduction but nothing criminal had taken place.

The Bonnyville RCMP would like to thank the various partners and members of the public that assisted them with their investigation.

 

BACKGROUND

Reports of a Child Abduction in Bonnyville, on Friday afternoon, have proven to be false.

A large police presence was in Bonnyville, shortly after school let out Friday afternoon.  There was also a Checkstop operation on HWY 41 & 28.
LCN is hearing reports that an investigation into the claims proved “non-criminal”. And no child abduction occurred.
