Ice Plant Down at Bonnyville Curling Rink
The Ice Plant at the Bonnyville Curling Rink unexpectedly went down on Friday, putting a bumper in the 2017 season for the Curling Club. The Curling Club released a statement to its members over the weekend stating that a service company is due on Tuesday to assess the situation.
It is not clear what the problem is or how long it will take to fix. For now, the club has cancelled Monday’s Men’s Night for January 9th and postponed Junior Curling Club until January 22nd, with registration at 4:00 pm for kids 10 years old and younger and 5:00 pm for kids 11 years years old and older. The club has stated that other league nights this week may have to be cancelled, but have not confirmed any others. Ladies’ Bonspiel for next weekend, January 13-15 is expected to go forward.
LCN will keep you updated on this situation as it unfolds.
The Bonnyville Curling Club recently presented to Bonnyville Town Council in hopes of securing funding for some key repairs; including the roof and furnaces. At that time the club reported that the ice plant was in good operating condition and they did not anticipate having to repair it for a number of years.
