Anytime is a good time to enjoy steak. But instead of trying to barbeque in this nasty cold, we used the stove top. We used the peppered steak that I picked up at Hamel’s Meat Market.

Ingredients: (For 2 people)

Two 8 oz. steaks- we used peppered steaks from Hamel’s

1 teaspoon Green Madagascar Peppercorns- We found these in Unico- Little Italy in Edmonton

1 cup Red Wine- We used Barefoot Sweet Red but any red will be fine.

1 cup whipping cream

Most madagascar recipes call for hot mustard but with the steaks being peppered already we felt we didn’t need anymore heat.

Directions:

Panfry your steaks until your desired level of doneness. Ours were medium rare. Remove from pan. Deglaze the pan with the red wine. Add peppercorns and cream. Reduce until thickened. Pour over steak and enjoy.
