“Overall, we had a successful year. We had a year that ended too soon; but, there were a lot of successes and a lot of improvements throughout the year,” Head Coach of the Bonnyville High School Football Voyageurs, Larry Godzuik says he’s content with the season and happy to celebrate the team at the awards banquet on Wednesday. “We’re looking to build on that success and have an even better year, next year.”
The banquet handed out awards to deserving players, celebrated the graduating players and honoured the coaches, parents, and fans. “This is the first year that we’ve had eight players graduate, that are starters. That is a huge hole,” the coach explains the team will be looking at a younger team next season, “we have anywhere from 15-20 bantam players moving up. Among those players, there’s some pretty solid grade 10 kids. But, we’ll be looking at our grade 11s, who gained a lot of experience this year, to step in those leadership roles.
