Time Management Key to Success

RABC will teach you techniques to combat the time crunch

The Rural Alberta Business Centre (RABC) in Cold Lake is hosting their follow-up to stress management this Wednesday, “Time Management & Goal Setting”. Small Business Advisor, for the RABC, Kathryn Hotte says there will be a lot of exercises to help participants learn how to use time to their advantage and set appropriate, smart goals.

“Each of us have a bank, and it’s called time. Every morning we get 86,400 seconds and every night 86,400 seconds are just written off; they’re gone. How you spent those, is up to you.” Hotte explains that people need to change the language they use when it comes to time, “if you say you don’t have time, well… it’s not that you don’t have time. You have to change your language to ‘it’s not a priority’. If it was a priority, you would’ve done it.”

“We talk about techniques on how to manage your time better and focus on the things that really matter to you. For example email can be a real time waster, so we talk about how to manage that,” Hotte says there will be a lot of tips and techniques given to help you become more efficient.

“Then we go into goal setting,” Hotte says it’s an important element to time management. “A goal is not a goal if there is no action and no plan; that’s a wish. We can all make wishes, but if there’s no action then it’s just a wish.”

The workshop is open to anyone, not just the business community. Hotte says in the past everyone from stay-at-parents to volunteers, to employers to non-profit groups to new entrepreneurs have attended the time management seminars.

To attend RSVP by contacting the RABC at 780-594-1090. The workshop is Wednesday 9am-12pm.
