22 year old faces multiple charges following hit & run in the Tim Hortons Parking Lot

On November 18th, around 10:30 pm, Cold Lake RCMP received a complaint of a hit and run with alcohol believed to be involved. “The caller reported a male driving a white Dodge Ram hit a parked vehicle at the Tim Horton’s parking lot on 50th street, then fled the parking lot heading northbound and turned near Dairy Queen,” S/Sgt Jeremie Landry with the Cold Lake Detachment says with that information RCMP were able to quickly locate the vehicle.

“We immediately began search for the suspect and the suspect vehicle,” confirms the S/Sgt, “through our investigation, we determined who the driver was. We attended a location on 49th street and located the damaged truck.” The believed driver was not at the location on 49th street where the police found the vehicle. “The truck was parked on the street. The truck had damage to the front and was leaking fluid. There was damage to the driver-side wheel-well area and the air bags had been deployed.” S/Sgt Landry says there was indication that alcohol was a factor in the hit and run, “also located was alcohol, within the vehicle.” The vehicle was also determined to be stolen.

The vehicle that was struck suffered a lot of front-end damage, as well as minor injuries to the passengers, says S/Sgt Landry, “within the vehicle, that was struck, was two adults and four children; one that was an infant. One child ended up with a bloody nose and ambulance was called.”

Later that evening, the RCMP attended an apartment within the city and located the suspected driver. 22 year old James Ryan Cardinal has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses.
