Cold Lake RCMP respond to man passed out in the woods
On November 11th, around 8:00 pm, the Cold Lake RCMP Detachment received a 911 call of a possible intoxicated person, passed out in a vehicle, close to 54th avenue, in the woods, behind a residence.
RCMP attended and located the driver, that was passed out behind the wheel. S/Sgt Jeremie Landry of the Cold Lake Detachment, confirms there was only one occupant in the vehicle, “only the male driver in the vehicle.” S/Sgt Landry says the vehicle was also stolen, “it was determined the vehicle was stolen and the ignition was stripped.” There was also a 26 ounce bottle of vodka found in the cupholder between the driver and passenger seats.
A 26 year old male, from Cold Lake, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. However police could not charge the male with driving under the influence, because the vehicle was not movable, explains the S/Sgt. “The vehicle was not movable because of its current condition. That’s one of the elements of the offense that we have to prove, that the vehicle can be put in motion.”
The man will appear in court on December 14th at 10:00 am in Cold Lake. At that time it is expected that charges will be sworn. The name of the accused could not be released because the charges have not yet been sworn.
