Canadiens Bring Home the Win from Killiam
Canadiens extend their record 11-0 after 4-3 win in Killiam
The St. Paul Canadiens hit the road Friday night for the long drive down to Killiam to take on the Wheat Kings. Assistant Coach for the Canadiens, Travis “Rollie” Rolheiser, says the game set the mood for the weekend.
Leading the league in penalty minutes, Killiam wasn’t able to suck the Canadiens into a messy game. St. Paul went home with only 8 minutes of penalties on the board, with Killiam a surprisingly low 29 minutes. “It was kinda surprising,” laughs Rollie, “if you look at all the penalties they’ve taken this year. We were able to stay out of the box and stay disciplined.”
The Canadiens opened the scoring at 9:15 in the first from Arron Gagne (Adam Neibrandt , Ryley Wozniak with the assists). The Wheat Kings were able to answer back right before the close of the first at 19:54 from Clay Lang.
2:21 into the second, Craig Lynes of the Wheat Kings got the go-ahead, which lasted through six minutes of play before Braydon Burak answered with the help of Gagne. With less than a minute left in the period Zach Sylvestre ( Zach Bendall , Brayden Goulet ) made it a 3-2 game, followed closely by a goal from Dyson Roy ( Brodin Ference , Braydon Burak ) to leave 40 minutes 4-2 Canadiens.
Killiam had some short-lived momenteum in the third with an early goal 52 seconds into the period, from Lynes. That would be the end of the scoring for both teams, playing out the remaining 19 minutes to leave the rink at 4-3 in favour of the Canadiens.
