Its time for the boys to clean out the locker, wash their stinky socks, tee shirts and shorts, the Bengals losing the final championship game to the undefeated Lloydminster Mustangs on this past Saturday.
The Mustangs will now go on to the provincial finals. The Mustangs were the only team to defeat the Bengals during the regular season and took the championship from them. Still a great year for the Bengals who have to be proud of the fact that they made it to the finals for the first time in many years.
But they never went down without a fight. Strong defense for both teams. There was no score from either team at half time with some nice tackles by the Bengals Elk Point products ‘Silent Sam’ Henderson and ‘ Ty Cobb’ Smereka ……in the second half ‘ Ty Cobb’ also making some nice punt returns as well . Another local boy ‘Hank the Tank’ Rogal getting into the action too, the quarter back giving him a lateral pass behind scrimmage , the ‘Tank ‘ passing it down field for a awesome play and a first down. The Bengals never gave up and were never out of this one until the final horn, the score only 7 to 0 until the until 4 minutes left in the game when the Mustangs would score another touchdown.
The final score 13 to 0. Great teamwork boys.
