On October 7, 2016, Caleb Dilcox was arrested on a Canada Wide Warrant by Cold Lake RCMP at a residence in Cold Lake.  Caleb Dilcox has been remanded into custody and is next appearing in Cold Lake Provincial Court, on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at 10:00 a.m.

Background

On June 1, 2016 at 3:30 a.m. Bonnyville RCMP responded to multiple 911 calls from a residence on 51 Avenue in Fort Kent, Alberta. Two males and a female forcefully entered a residence.  A resident of that house was struck in the head with a firearm. The three suspects fled in a silver Hyundai Tiberon.

 

RCMP located the suspect vehicle at a residence in Cold Lake a short time later.  RCMP quickly evacuated nearby residences between 45 avenue and 47 avenue in Cold Lake South. RCMP K Division Emergency Response Team was deployed from Edmonton along with a RCMP Police Service Dog from Lloydminster.

A male suspect was arrested as he tried to evade the police on foot.  A female suspect turned herself in to Cold Lake RCMP. A third suspect remains at large.

Brandon Hunter, 30 years old of Cold Lake has been charged with Break and Enter, Robbery with a Firearm, two counts of Assault with a Weapon,  Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Assault, Possession of a Firearm while Committing a Break and Enter, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace, Possession of a Firearm without a License, Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited, two counts of Fail to Comply with Conditions of a Recognizance and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Brandon has been remanded in custody and will appear in Cold Lake Provincial Court on June 8, 2016.

 

Jelena Cole, 25 years old of Bonnyville has been charged with Break and Enter, Robbery with a Firearm, Two counts of Assault with a Weapon,  Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Assault, Possession of a Firearm while Committing a Break and Enter, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace, and Possession of a Firearm without a License.  Jelena has been remanded in custody and will appear in Cold Lake Provincial Court on June 8, 2016.

 

Caleb Walter Dilcox, 27 years old of Cold Lake has been charged with Break and Enter, Robbery with a Firearm, Two counts of Assault with a Weapon,  Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Assault, Possession of a Firearm while Committing a Break and Enter, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace, and Possession of a Firearm without a License. Caleb remains at large and the RCMP ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact police.

 

The victim was transported to hospital where he was treated for a head injury.

 

This is not considered a random act, all parties involved were known to each other.
