Bonnyville Man Caught Twice in less than a Month for Driving While Disqualified

The Cold Lake RCMP were called to assist a Cold Lake City Peace Officer, with a prohibited driver, on July 19th at approximately 11:30 pm. S/Sgt Jeremie Landry, with the Cold Lake Detachment, explains the driver was aggressive with officers when they attempted to arrest him.

“This individual was aggressive with officers and while being handcuffed he spat on his own vehicle.” With some struggle, RCMP arrested 26 year old Kristijan Gajic-Vukic for operating a motor vehicle while prohibited. “This prohibition was related to an impaired driving conviction,” S/Sgt Landry says the man is no stranger to driving while prohibited. “He had just been convicted less than a month prior for the same offense.”

“In March he was convicted of driving while intoxicated and given a one year driving prohibition,” however that didn’t stop Gajic-Vukic from driving, says S/Sgt Landry. He was sentenced to a driving while disqualified conviction on June 22nd, then caught driving again on July 19th. He was brought before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody until a July 27th court date.
