Bonnyville RCMP Stop Impaired Drivers

On July 10th, 2016 at approximately 2:15 AM, a constable with the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment was conducting patrols within the town of Bonnyville when he observed a black dodge truck swerve into the middle of the road near the Neighbourhood Inn.  A traffic stop was conducted with the vehicle during which it was determined that the driver, a 39 year old male resident of Bonnyville,  was intoxicated and was subsequently arrested for Impaired Operation of a Motor vehicle and transported to the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment.  At the detachment the driver provided samples of his breath which resulted in readings twice the legal limit.  The driver was later released on court compelling documents to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on August 16th, 2016 along with a driver’s license suspension.

 

On July 14th, 2016 at approximately 1:00 AM, the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment received a complaint of an intoxicated male in the driver’s seat of vehicle outside a bar.  Constables arrived and spoke with the male, a 27 year old resident of Bonnyville, immediately observing a strong odour of liquor and noting other signs of intoxication.  After observing the keys in the ignition, police advised the male that he was under arrest for impaired care and control of the motor vehicle. After being demanded to provide a sample of his breath and transported to the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment, the male provide samples which resulted in readings well over the legal limit.  The male was later released on court compelling documents for impaired care and control of a motor vehicle along with a licence suspension and vehicle seizure report.
