UPDATE

After a thorough and independent review by the St. Paul Crown’s Office no charges will be laid against either party involved in the collision.

BACKGROUND

On July 5, 2016, at approximately 2:30 p.m. Cold Lake RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision between a City of Cold Lake Peace Officer vehicle and an SUV.  The collision occurred on Highway 28 at 69th Avenue.  Preliminary investigation has revealed that a north bound SUV struck the front passenger’s side of the Peace Officer vehicle that was attempting a left turn onto 69th Avenue from Highway 28.

The driver of the Peace Officer vehicle was transported to Cold Lake Hospital with minor injuries, treated and quickly discharged.  The investigation into the collision continues with an update expected in the next couple of days.  Traffic lights were fully functional at the time of the collision.
