3 Elk Point Men Charged in String of Ardmore Break-ins
On June 18th at approximately 3:30 pm, the Cold Lake RCMP responded to a 911 call of a Break & Enter in progress at a residence near Ardmore on Township Road 625. RCMP from Cold Lake attending immediately and with the help of the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment & Police Dogs, it was determined there were three suspects and that three residences were broken into.
RCMP soon found the suspect van and when attempting to pull it over two passengers fled from the vehicle, while the driver, 30 year old Kyle Gordon Abraham, of Elk Point was arrested. Police searched the vehicle and found two rifles, and one doctored magazine. The rifles a Mosin-Magant 1891 Bolt 7.62 caliber and Simonov SKS 1945 semi-automatic 7.62 caliber, were unloaded. The magazine had been unpinned to hold 30 rounds of ammunition.
Abraham has been charged with one count of break & enter, three counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and two counts of possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose. He appeared before a Justice of Peace and has been released on $500 recognizance.
Police found the second suspect, Dusty Lee Frisby, 24 years old of Elk Point, a short while later hiding. Frisby has been charged with one count of break & enter and committing theft. One count of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and two counts of possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose. Frisby has appeared in front of a Justice of Peace and was released on a $500 recognizance.
The third suspect, 49 year old Kenneth Bruce Wood, of Elk Point, fled and broke into a nearby garage. From the garage Wood attempted to conceal his identity by wearing stolen coveralls. He also stole a 2009 Polaris Quad, and tried to flee the scene. Police caught up and arrested him shortly after. Wood was found to be in possession of 15 grams of methamphetamine and $1,500 cash.
Wood has been charged with two counts of break & enter to commit theft, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, 2 counts of possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose, one count of theft over $5000 (Quad) and one count of theft under $5000 (cash). Additionally, Wood has been charged with trafficking of a control substance. Wood has been remanded into custody.
All three men are scheduled to appear in Cold Lake Provincial Court on July 13th at 10:00am.
