Speed Reduction on Gurneyville Road

As construction continues on Gurneyville there will be posted speed reduction limits, the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment would like motorist to be more vigilant with these postings and to follow the directions, says Constable Laura Carrol.

“The Bonnyville RCMP Detachment would like to remind residents and visitors of our detachment area that there is a portion of Gurneyville Road that has a posted speed of 30 km/hr,” Cst. Carrol says it’s important for everyone’s safety and wallets to maintain the posted speed rate. “The Bonnyville RCMP Detachment has and will be continuing to enforce the posted speed.”

The Jesse Lake Walking Trail is utilized quite a bit in the spring/summer months and with construction creeping up on the trail pathway it can be dangerous for people using the trail, explains Cst. Carrol. “The speed limit is low in order to ensure the safety of those who utilize the walking/ bike path around Jesse Lake.  Vehicles traveling at a higher rate of speed may cause loose gravel to fly off the road and possibly injury those using the path.  The low speed requirement also helps ensure that visibility that does not get impaired by large amounts of dust.”

Construction is expected to last throughout the summer on Gurneyville Road.
