Female Charged after Making False Domestic Assault Claim

On the morning of May 24th, 2016 the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment received a complaint of domestic violence from a 25 year old female stating that she had been assaulted by her common law boyfriend.  After obtaining more information from the female, officers located and arrested her 36 year old boyfriend.

Both parties were brought to the detachment and through further investigation it was learned that the female had lied to the police about the incident and had not been assaulted by the male.  The male was released without charges and the female was charged with Public Mischief and Mischief Under $5000 prior to being released on court compelling documents with conditions. The name of the female accused has not been released by the RCMP at this time.
