NLSD Welcomes New Associate Superintendent of Teaching & Learning Jimmi Lou Irvine

Northern Lights School Division No. 69 is pleased to announce that Jimmi Lou Irvine has been chosen as the Division’s new Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.

“In addition to serving as an administrator, Jimmi Lou has shown a deep commitment to developing leadership capacity, instructional strategies and best practices, and working collaboratively to facilitate change,” said Superintendent Rick Cusson. “We are excited to have her come on board and share her knowledge and passion for teaching and learning with staff throughout the Division.”

As Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, Irvine will be responsible for FNMI Services, Literacy and Numeracy, Educational Technology, Inclusive Education,

and Assessment and Instruction. She will begin her new role on August 1. “For over 10 years now I have been part of an amazing admin council and group of administrators and I am looking forward to working with those administrators in a different capacity,” said Irvine. “I’m excited to be part of a new team, to build on the great things that are happening and move forward.”

Irvine began her career with Northern Lights School Division in 2000 as a teacher at Bonnyville Centralized High School. That year, she was the Division’s nominee for the Alberta School Boards’ Association’s Edwin Parr Award for Excellence in First Year Teaching. She became an administrator in 2004, serving as Assistant Principal at Glendon School for three years, and then Principal for one. In 2009 she became Principal of Iron River School.

In addition to her role as an administrator, Irvine co-chaired a team of administrators and central office staff that developed a new Inclusive Education model for the division, served as a Student Support team Co-ordinator and Learning Coach, and served on the Division’s Site-Based Management Committee.
