Olivia Rose & Cassidy Zahar to Open for Brett Kissel

There’s an old adage that warns one ‘should never forget where they came from.’ For Brett Kissel, those words became a flurry of excited and enthusiastic action on Wednesday, as Kissel Skype-called two Lakeland area artists and welcomed them to open his sold-out Homecoming show in St. Paul on Saturday, June 18th.

Bellis, Alberta’s Cassidy Zahar and Elk Point, Alberta’s Olivia Rose were surprised by a call from the multiple CCMA & Juno Award winner asking them to kick off the special night under the stars at Jaycee Ballpark – – a call Kissel couldn’t have been happier to make:

‘Personally reaching out to Cassidy and Olivia was very important to me,” explained Kissel.  ‘To see them face to face and ask them to join the concert was a lot of fun!’

‘Recently I’ve had the opportunity to perform alongside some of my favorite artists, but I remember as a young performer starting out, how it felt to go to a show and be in the crowd, yearning to be on the stage. That’s why I wanted to give both of these ladies the chance to perform at our show. I think it’s important to nurture the talents of the next generation – and Cassidy Zahar and Olivia Rose are certainly doing a great job representing the Lakeland area that I’m proud to come from.’

Zahar and Rose may still be young, but both have been gracing Alberta stages with their own unique takes on classic and modern country music for years, earning praise for their vocal talents and abilities.

Cassidy Zahar and Olivia Rose join a stellar line-up at the MCSNet ‘Brett Kissel Hometown Homecoming,’ including local favorites Route 66, special performances by Calvin Vollrath, Charlie Major, and of course, Brett Kissel.
