Chamber Hosts Thriving in Hard Times Workshop

Due to the economic downturn many families in Bonnyville, and area, are hurting financially and are under significant family stress. The Bonnyville & District Chamber of Commerce is hosting a workshop designed to help navigate the rough waters of the economy. Agencies and organizations from Bonnyville are coming together to create a one day workshop to offer hope, support, some practical suggestions and to encourage a sense of community.

The “Thriving in the Hard Times” workshop will be held on May 7, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Bonnyville Seniors Drop In Centre (4813 47 Ave). The intent is to have presenters to provide information about the services and resources available in our community to individuals and families that may be financially struggling and experiencing high levels of stress.  “The Chamber recognizes that there are no simple solutions, so we want to bring the community together to support those struggling and address coping strategies to manage stress (financial or emotional) and offer practical advice to deal with issues or concerns,” states Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Andrea Yaramie.

Rather than asking for monetary donations to ensure the workshop is successful, Yaramie says the Chamber is looking for gifts in kind, “we would like know if your company / organization would be willing to support us by donating a door prize of a gift card ($10, $25, $50 or$100) that can be used in our community.” Other types of donations are welcome, as well, says Yaramie. Every donation goes a long way in supporting those in our community who are in need. “The Chamber appreciates any assistance businesses or organizations are able to give.”

If you require more information, or would like to donate please give us a call at 780-826-3252 or send an e-mail to executivedirector@bonnyvillechamber.com by April 22, 2016.
