Bonnyville RCMP Respond to Axe Fight in Kehewin
On March 14th, 2016 at approximately 9:30 PM, the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment received a 911 call reporting that two males were fighting with axes in Kehewin, AB. Bonnyville RCMP Officers attended and located one male, 31 year old resident of Kehewin, AB, in the basement. The 31 year old male was wanted on outstanding warrants for being Unlawfully at Large from Fort Saskatchewan, AB and was arrested without incident.
At the time of arrest, several injuries were noted on the 31 year old male. The other male involved, a 35 year old resident of Edmonton, AB, had fled the scene but was located at a nearby residence and was arrested without incident with a noted injury to the head. Through investigation it was learned that both the 31 and 35 year old males arrived at the crime scene residence with two females, an 18 year old resident of St. Paul, AB and a 35 year old resident of Kehewin, AB, in a stolen vehicle. Police learned from witnesses that both males had struck each other with axes and at one point both the 18 and 35 year old females had held down the 31 year old male so that the 35 year old male could strike him with an axe.
The females were located and arrested by the Bonnyville RCMP Officers and transported to the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment. Both males were treated for their injuries at Bonnyville Health Center and were transported to the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment once they were deemed fit for incarceration. All parties are facing criminal charges:
