Lakeland Friends Host Healing Hearts & Minds feat. The Robb Nash Project
Lakeland Friends will be bringing renown motivational speaker, Robb Nash, to Bonnyville March 4th for a two inspirational sessions on suicide prevention and mental health awareness. Jeannine Nagy, organizer for Healing Hearts & Minds, says the event will be really special; The Robb Nash Project will first present to the teens in the area and then hold a special evening for the adults.
The Robb Nash Project is known for teen suicide prevention and mental health presentations, explains Jeannine, “it’s really focused around the Rob Nash Project. The money we raise from the evening session will help Robb Nash continue to go to schools and centres and help more people. He doesn’t charge the schools or any of the kids that need to hear him, but it does cost his group about $5000 per event. So, all of the work he does is based on donations and private sponsorship.”
The Robb Nash Project engages young people through the power of music and words. Engaging them to make positive life changes and lead lives of significance & importance.
Rob Nash is a Canadian, from Winnipeg, “he’s been asked to go to the States and perform, too, but right now he’s focused on our Canadian kids,” explains Jeannine. For the Lakeland performance, schools from all over will be invited to the Centennial Centre, in Bonnyville, “he’s going to be speaking to the high school students from BCHA, NDHS, Glendon High School, and the Outreach Schools. We wanted to reach as many kids as we could this year, because The Robb Nash Project’s schedule is so full. So far, we have about 750 kids that are going to get to see him that day.”
Lakeland Friends are hosting a fundraiser in Glendon that evening, for adults, after the school performance. Jeannine explains the group thought it was important to give back to The Robb Nash Project so they could continue to help children all over Canada. The evening includes celebrity MC Danny Hooper, Dinner & Dance, with a live band, “Mid-Life Crisis”. There will also be a special presentation from The Robb Nash Project.
“It’ll be an hour presentation, almost the full show, for what he does in the schools. That will give the parents an idea of what they do and open up the conversation between the kids and the parents. It will give the parents a lot of tools to work with their kids,” says Jeannine. “It’s really necessary for the Lakeland, right now. People are hurting and suicide is at a higher rate than it’s ever been.”
The goal is to have The Robb Nash Project to come back next year for a week and visit each Lakeland school individually. To purchase tickets to the Gala call Jeannine at 78-573-5503.
