Cold Lake RCMP report there were three incidences of note from February 13-16th, 2016
Over the Limit w/o Licence or Insurance
On February 13th, 2016, at 1:45 am, a member of the Cold Lake RCMP was conducting patrols, when a vehicle was observed leaving an establishment that serves liquor. The vehicle had a burnt out taillight and failed to stop at a stop light. The officer was able to pull the vehicle over and conduct a sobriety test. The driver provided breath samples, which were under the 0.08 limit, but over the Province of Alberta’s limit of 0.05.
A 35 year old female, from Big Island Cree Territory, has charges pending for failing to comply with an undertaking, as well as, operating a motor vehicle without registration & insurance and driving with a suspended licence.
Drug Seizure
At 2:20 am, on February 14th, 2016, Cold Lake RCMP conducted a checkstop at Highway 28 and Snake Island Road (RR424). Officers detected a strong odour of marihuana coming from the vehicle. The driver was arrested and issued a 24 hour suspension.
29.5 grams of marihuana was seized and the driver, a 39 year old male, from Cold Lake, was charged with possession of marihuana under 30 grams.
Drunk on a Bus
On February 16th, 2016, at 8:20 am, Cold Lake RCMP were called with a report of an intoxicated female passed out on a City bus, at the A&W-Veteran’s Way intersection. RCMP attended and arrested a 46 year old female from the Cold Lake First Nations. The female was held, until sober, and released with a charge, under the Gaming & Liquor Act, of Being Intoxicated in a Public Place.
