Yaks Take on Two Big Rivals This Weekend
The Bonnyville Jr A Pontiacs will be facing two of their biggest rivals, on the road, this weekend, the Lloydminster Bobcats on Friday and the Spruce Grove Saints on Saturday. Associate Coach for the Pontiacs, Larry Draper, says the teams’ may not like each other, “but we respect them.”
The Pontiacs, who have yet to beat Lloyd in regulation, are hopeful for tonight’s game, “we beat them last time, in a shootout,” says Draper, “that was fun!” The club has come a long way since the December 2nd game. Losing only three of 13 games after the Bobcats, including two games against Drayton Valley this past weekend. “We’ve got a great team, with great players, and we have a very good chance of pulling off a win,” states Draper.
The Saints have been another tough team for the Yaks, this season. They last met on November 20th, where the Pontiacs suffered a shootout loss. The club has taken the Saints this season, on October 13th, with a 5-3 win.
If you’ve been to the Centennial Centre in Bonnyville this week, you’ve probably noticed the boys working out doing dry-land training and if you were fortunate to catch them on the ice, you could notice a fire and determination in their stride to bring home two big wins this weekend.
