MD to Construct New Public Safety Building

Published On: September 10, 2015By

At September 8th Council meeting, The MD of Bonnyville approved a bid to construct a new Public Safety Building. United Construction Inc., who has offices in Edmonton and Saskatoon, won the tender.

Reeve for the MD of Bonnyville, Ed Rondeau says construction should begin in the near future, “we’re hoping they will start this fall, very soon. Apparently, they are ready to start. With any luck, maybe we can have [the building] ready for next winter.” The building will join other MD properties north of Bonnyville on 46 street, the Reeve explains it will be “in the same quarter section of land that our Public Works shop is on.”

MD Council agreed to increase the original estimate by $150 000 to cover the entire $2,933,000 cost of the project. This price includes a contingency fund as well as furniture and equipment for the building.
