Vehicle Theft is on the Rise in The Lakeland
A growing number of vehicle theft has the police reminding Lakelanders to always lock their vehicles. Residents are advised to remove valuables from their vehicles at night or when parked for an extended period of time. Many of the thefts are crimes of opportunity.
In Cold Lake, from August 12-20th, there were five reported thefts of motor vehicles. Along with two trucks, there was a trailer, Â a city garbage truck and a motorcycle (Yamaha 450 CC).
In one of the cases, it turned out to be a false alarm, after it was discovered a family member had borrowed the vehicle and later brought it back.
Elizabeth Metis Settlement reported two vehicles stolen from public works shop in the same time period.
If you know any information about these thefts or witnessed any suspicious activity, you are asked to contact the Cold Lake RCMP Detachment 780-594-3301
