Cold Lake, AB – The City of Cold Lake will be following a new waste management schedule focused on improving staff morale while reducing the need for overtime and including dedicated time for equipment maintenance.

Starting on August 3, the new schedule will take effect with the first waste pickup day on Tuesday, August 4. Under the new schedule, Mondays will be dedicated to maintenance and collection will take place from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm Tuesday through Friday.

The new schedule will affect the day some residents’ garbage will be picked up.

“The new schedule reduces the need to have our crews work overtime,” the City’s General Manager of Infrastructure Services, Azam Khan, said. “It also ensures that, in the course of a regular week, our staff have a day for equipment maintenance.”

The schedule maintains weekly garbage pickup as well as a Zone A and a Zone B, which are used to determine the weeks that recycling and organics pickup will occur in certain areas.

“We are asking residents to have a look at the new schedule so we can implement these changes as seamlessly as possible,” Khan said. “We will be providing residents with the same level of service, but the days the service is provided may change in some areas.”

The new schedule is being delivered to houses starting today. It is also available on www.coldlake.com and at City Hall. Residents with questions about the new schedule can contact City Hall at 780-594-4494.
