BPRCA Give the Ladies of The Chuckwagons The Day Off

On Friday, July 24th, the Pro Rodeo & Chuckwagon Association (BPRCA) is hosting a Ladies of the Chuckwagon’s spa day for all the WPCA chuckwagon drivers’ wives, girlfriends, and mothers, who travel with the drivers on the circuit.

Tina Michaud, organizer of the event, says the ladies deserve a day off, “we know how hard the girls work.” Tina says the BPRCA wants to make sure they get some down time, “when they come here they’re coming off 12 days in Calgary and they deserve something special.”

The private event makes sure to pamper each of the ladies on the circuit with everything from hairdressers to nail technicians to massage therapists on hand. In the past the group has even done tarot card reading. The BPRCA committee wants to make sure the ladies leave feeling relaxed and refreshed.

It’s all part of making Bonnyville a welcoming environment for the families on the WPCA circuit.”Especially because they do Ponoka for five days, and then its straight to the Calgary Stampede,” Tina explains the grueling schedule. “Then they get a week off and they get to come to Bonnyville,” Tina says the committee makes sure it’s a memorable experience, “there isn’t as much money to be won, (compared to other stops) so there isn’t as much pressure.”

Tina says that the drivers and families are able to have fun in Bonnyville and the committee wants to make sure the ladies are taken care of. The Ladies Spa has been an annual event in Bonnyville, one many women on the circuit look forward to, for eight years. There will be a silent auction associated with the event to benefit Rednecks with a Cause. The committee is looking for more silent auction items and massage therapists or other people with specialty services that would be exciting to offer the ladies.
