Vermilion man faces assault, weapon charges after theft complaint
In the late afternoon hours of September 7, Vermilion RCMP received a report of an assault in relation to a stolen vehicle compliant.
The victim’s car had been stolen and when she confronted the suspect, she was assaulted.
Police say investigators were able to get a search warrant for the suspect’s home and subsequently recovered the stolen vehicle.
During the search warrant, the accused was found in possession of a sawed-off shotgun.
Andrew James Prill (age 34) of Vermilion is charged with the following offences:
– Assault
– Possession of stolen property X2
– Possession of a prohibited weapon
– Possession of weapon while prohibited
Prill was held to appear before a justice of the peace. He remains in custody to next appear in Provincial Court in St. Paul to speak to bail.
Police did not give a date for the court appearance.
