Cold Lake RCMP arrest four individuals for Identity Theft
On Oct. 02, 2017 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Cold Lake RCMP responded to a call of suspicious individuals at a local hotel. Upon arrival members learned the individuals had been removing suspicious items from a room in which they were residing. Further investigation by Cold Lake RCMP resulted in the arrest of four individuals who were also in possession of stolen property, documentation and equipment used for identity and credit card fraud.
Amongst the equipment located members recovered electronic debit/credit card readers, laptop, USB communication interface, cell phones, and bags full of financial documents, bills, cheques and personal identity information of over 25 victim’s. Members also recovered multiple identity cards, birth certificates, SIN cards, credit cards, drivers licences, health cards and company gas cards.
Cassandra Janvier (27), Michael Possberg (33), Justin Skulte (28) and 17 year old youth whose name cannot be released were each charged with a series of offences including Possession of Stolen Property, Identity Theft, and Possession of Instruments for coping or forging credit cards.
All four individuals were remanded into custody and will appear in Cold Lake Provincial court on Oct. 11, 2017.
As this matter is now before the courts, there will be no further updates in relation to this investigation.
