Cold Lake – A man has been arrested after a report of a person with a firearm prompted lockdowns at schools and businesses in Cold Lake Tuesday morning.
Cold Lake RCMP received the complaint at approximately 10 a.m. on September 29 in the area of 45 Street and Worthington Court.
Officers responded and immediately placed nearby schools and businesses under lockdown as a precaution.
RCMP say the man surrendered to police and was taken into custody without incident.
After the arrest, police determined there was no immediate threat to the public or schools at the time.
Cold Lake RCMP thanked the member of the public who reported the situation, saying the call allowed officers to respond quickly and resolve the incident.
The matter remains under investigation, and RCMP have not released further details about the firearm complaint or whether charges are expected.
