On Thursday, August 20, 2026, Frieda Blackman of Cold Lake First Nations passed away at the age of 66 years, surrounded by the love of her family.

Frieda will be forever remembered and deeply loved by her children: Jonathan Blackman (Clarissa), Keith Blackman, and Cassandra Blackman (Mario); her grandchildren: Jerome, Tia, Tatiana, Raven, Knox, and Nina; her brothers: Adelard Blackman and Kenneth Blackman; and her many nieces and nephews: Sheila, Benjamin, Jason, Amy, Kennedy, Keira, Garrett, Catriona, Kirk, Mick, Tia, and Savannah. She also leaves behind numerous extended relatives and friends who will hold her memory close.

Frieda was predeceased by her son Jeffrey Blackman; her grandson Ryker Blackman; her parents Bernadette and Ralph Blackman; and her brother Bruce Blackman.

Frieda found joy in the simple, steady rhythms of life. She loved travelling and discovering new places, and she felt a special freedom when she was driving, taking in the quiet beauty of the places ahead. Bingo nights brought her laughter and companionship, and her fondness for lilies reflected her gentle spirit. These small joys were woven through her days and will be remembered fondly.
