Matthew David Carswell
It is with profound sadness that the family of Matthew David Carswell, of Ardmore, Alberta, announce his unexpected passing on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the age of 42 years.
Matthew was a man defined by his deeply caring and giving heart. He was a person who lived with purpose, always placing the needs of others before his own. Whether he was volunteering his time to help those in need, tending to his home and yard with meticulous care, or simply enjoying the outdoors while camping with friends, Matthew approached every aspect of his life with 100% effort and wholehearted devotion. His kindness and unwavering commitment to his family and community have left an indelible mark on all who knew him
Matthew is lovingly survived by his wife of 13 years, Cassandra Carswell and cherished children, Hannah and Emmett. He will be deeply missed by his brother, Colin (Crystal) Carswell of Williams Lake, British Columbia; sister, Becky (Kirby) Potter of Faulkland, British Columbia; father: David Carswell; nephew: Gunnar Carswell.
He is now reunited with his grandfather, Gerry Farnsworth; mother: Karen Barnett (Farnsworth); step-father, Wayne Barnett.
In honour of Matthew’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 1:00 p.m., Bonnyville Rodeo Grounds Infield, Bonnyville, Alberta with Tom Trifaux as Master of Ceremonies. The family invites all those who knew and loved Matthew to a social at the Bonnyville Rodeo Grounds beer gardens immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a trust fund established for Hannah & Emmett in honour of their daddy, helping to support them in the years ahead. E-transfers can be made to carswelltrust2026@gmail.com. Alternatively, cheques can be made payable to ‘Carswell Trust’.
