The St. Paul Fire Department responded to three separate structure fires over the last week in both the Town and County of St. Paul, including one fire now being investigated as suspicious.
According to a media release from Director of Protective Services and Fire Chief Trevor Kotowich, the incidents occurred on April 29, May 2 and May 6.
Mobile Home Fire on Highway 881
On April 29, crews responded to a mobile home fire at Sun Country Trailer Park on Highway 881.
Fifteen firefighters attended the scene and successfully extinguished the fire. Three occupants were inside the trailer at the time but escaped unharmed.
The fire has been deemed accidental.
Suspicious House Fire Under Investigation
On May 2, firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire in the 4900 block of 51 Avenue in St. Paul.
Due to structural instability, crews fought the fire defensively and did not enter the building. Eighteen firefighters responded and had the fire extinguished within two hours. An excavator was brought in to assist with tearing down portions of the structure.
The fire is being investigated by the St. Paul Fire Department and RCMP and is believed to have started under suspicious circumstances.

Mechanical Shop Destroyed in County Fire
On May 6, the department responded to a mechanical shop fire in the County of St. Paul.
When crews arrived, the building was fully involved with several vehicles inside. Twenty-one firefighters responded, assisted by mutual aid tankers from Ashmont and Mallaig.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
