With great sadness, the family of Roland Dale Cardinal of Goodfish Lake, Alberta announce his passing on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at the age of 56 years.

Roland will be forever remembered by his daughters: Jaydeen Paquette, Shayleen Favell; sons: Chad (Kira) Cardinal, Zack Cardinal; father’s partner: Crystal Sparklingeyes & her son, Johnny; grandchildren: Avery, Liam, Emma, Mia, Gwen, Ezri, Seren; siblings: Lance (Nancy) Cardinal, Denean (Lyle) Thorsen, Tyann Cardinal, Ari Cardinal, Russell (Kayleigh) Shott; nieces: Brielle (Ryan), Chanelle, Aerial, Alison, Kathryn, Leah; nephews: Austin, Colton; aunts & uncles: Gary (Diane) Sargeant, Dale (Lois) Sargeant, Shawna (Marvin) Smith, Doug (Debbie) Sargeant, Marilyn McGillis, Margaret (Art) Tremblay, Charlotte Cardinal, Russell (Judy) Cardinal, Joe (Patsy) Cardinal, Sharon (Lee) Peterson, Fred (Jeannette) Cardinal, Germaine Cardinal; best friend: Tiki the Chihuahua; as well as numerous cousins from the Cardinal & Sargeant families.

Roland is being reunited with his father: Randolph “Randy” Cardinal; mother: Cheryl Cardinal; paternal grandparents: Harry & Violet Cardinal; maternal grandparents: Philip & Audrey Sargeant.

Funeral Service, Monday, May 11, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., Goodfish Lake Cultural Centre, Goodfish Lake, Alberta with Elder Floyd Cardinal officiating. Pallbearers: Chad Cardinal, Zack Cardinal, Wanda Cardinal, Austin Cardinal, Tyson Cardinal, George Cardinal. Honorary Pallbearers: Tyler Cardinal and all Roland’s family and friends.
