LIFEGUARD (CASUAL)
The Town of Bonnyville is seeking a motivated and responsible individual to join its team as a Lifeguard. This is a casual, team-oriented position running from May to August, offering an opportunity to work in a dynamic aquatic environment while supporting community recreation and safety.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- National Lifeguard Certification
- Intermediate First Aid with CPR “C”
- Swim and Lifesaving Instructor Certification
- Minimum of six (6) months experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to maintain physical fitness standards as required by the Lifesaving Society – National Lifeguard Standards
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
- Pool Operator Level 1
- Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform lifeguarding and instructional duties to ensure patron safety.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility.
- Manage lesson administration, including attendance tracking, evaluations, and report cards.
- Assist with front counter duties such as pass sales, bookings, and cash handling when required.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with community members.
- Enforce facility rules and ensure safe use of all amenities.
- Supervise Junior Lifeguards and Casual Admin staff when required.
- Conduct water testing, pump checks, and chemical maintenance to ensure safe pool conditions.
- Maintain organized chemical storage and ensure Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are accessible and up to date.
- Attend required training sessions and staff meetings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Pool Supervisor or Head Lifeguard.
- Work evenings and weekends as required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Fast-paced aquatic facility setting.
- Requires standing for long periods, physical activity, and working in humid conditions.
- Shift work including evenings and weekends.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Successful completion of pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing is required.
- Must comply with Occupational Health & Safety regulations and Town policies.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:
- May 2026 to August 2026
(Start and end dates subject to environmental conditions and budget considerations.)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This position is supported by the Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the start of employment to meet eligibility requirements.
