The Lakeland just proved what small towns can do in a big way.

The 2026 Thermal Cup has officially crossed the six-figure mark, raising an incredible $103,065 for KidSport. That number is more than just a milestone — it’s more kids on the ice, more families supported, and more opportunities for local youth to stay in the game.

A Community Effort That Delivered

From oil companies building competitive teams to service companies stepping up with sponsorship, this year’s event was powered by community at every level.

Volunteers played a massive role behind the scenes, putting in long hours to make sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish.

A special thank you goes out to Darcy and Jadie Pashak, who were the driving force behind the event. Their countless hours and dedication helped turn the Thermal Cup into what it is today.

More Than Just a Hockey Tournament

From puck drop to the final whistle, the 2026 Thermal Cup brought energy, competition and a purpose bigger than the game itself.

Every dollar raised goes directly toward helping kids access sports — removing financial barriers and making sure more young athletes get their chance to play.

Back-to-Back Champs

On the ice, it was Suncor who once again came out on top, securing back-to-back championships and cementing their place as a powerhouse in the tournament.

Building Something Bigger

The Thermal Cup continues to grow, not just in numbers but in impact. What started as a community event is quickly becoming a cornerstone for supporting youth sports across the region.

And if this year is any indication, it’s only getting bigger.

See you in 2027.
