The Lakeland College Rustlers are on top again — and this year, they didn’t just win, they made a statement.

From national gold to conference titles and podium finishes across multiple sports, the Rustlers delivered one of the strongest seasons in program history.

National Champions — Again

The headline moment came from the women’s volleyball team, who captured their fourth straight national gold medal — a rare achievement in Canadian collegiate sports.

Led by tournament MVP Avery Bates, the team continues to build a dynasty that’s turning heads across the country.

Hockey Gold in Front of a Packed House

On the ice, the women’s hockey team defended their conference title in dramatic fashion, winning 1-0 in double overtime against Red Deer.

Claudia Lammers scored the game-winner, while Keyra Buziak — named ACAC Female Athlete of the Year — capped off an incredible season with MVP honours.

Strong Across the Board

This wasn’t just one team carrying the banner — the success ran deep:

Men’s basketball hosted the ACAC championships after finishing first in their division

  • Men’s futsal fought back to earn bronze
  • Mixed curling also brought home bronze
  • Rowing teams picked up gold at fall regattas
  • Rodeo athletes are sending 30 competitors to national finals

Built on More Than Wins

This kind of season doesn’t happen by accident.

It’s built on strong coaching, committed athletes, and a culture that pushes for excellence across every program.

And in the Lakeland, it’s another reminder that high-level competition and small-town pride go hand in hand.

The Rustlers aren’t just winning — they’re building something that lasts.
