With heartfelt sadness, the family of Fred Cabay of Bonnyville, Alberta announces his passing on March 18, 2026, at the age of 87 years.

Fred will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Iva Cabay; his children Cindy (Brad) Cabay‑Bacon, Lona (William) Kenzie, and Brad (Kim) Cabay; and his grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy: Codie (Kelti), Melissa (Les), Shandi (Greg), Kalli (Marc), Cass, Alissia (Matt); great-grandchildren: Bobbi, Freddie and Kenzie. He is also survived by his siblings Florence Shayka, Mary Pilipchuk, Ed (Judy) Cabay, and Emile Cabaj.

A man known for his strong work ethic and steady hands, Fred spent many years as a backhoe operator and was the dedicated owner and operator of Cabay Ditching, a business he built through hard work, reliability, and pride in a job well done. His commitment to his craft and his community earned him the respect of many throughout the Bonnyville area.

Above all, Fred was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His greatest joy came from the family he and Iva nurtured over their 63 years together. His quiet strength, gentle humour, and unwavering love will be deeply missed.

Fred was predeceased by his grandson Wyatt; his parents Mike and Katherine Cabay; his brother John Cabay; and his sister Ann Perepelecta.

He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, humility, and love—qualities that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
