Cold Lake officials say concerns are growing over the reliability of Canada Post delivery, with missing and delayed mail affecting residents and city operations.
Administration told council they are seeing an increase in complaints from residents who are not receiving important documents.
“We are finding that there is a growing number of customers complaining that they’re not receiving the mail that the city is putting to Canada Post,” administration said.
Missing mail and delays
Issues raised include:
- Mail returned years after being sent
- Bills and notices never arriving
- Vendor invoices going missing
“Sometimes that mail is from as old as 2019… we assume that person… has received all the mail… but they haven’t been.”
The city is now exploring alternative delivery methods, including expanded use of email notifications.
