Two Semi Trucks Collide Near Lea Park, Minor Injuries Reported

A collision between two semi-truck and trailers early Sunday morning temporarily blocked both lanes of traffic near the Vermilion River overpass before Lea Park.

Just before 6:30 a.m., emergency tones were sent to Marwayne Fire and Rescue after reports that two semis had collided in the area.

 

Multiple departments respond

While crews were responding, updated information indicated both lanes of the roadway were blocked, prompting a second call for assistance. Dewberry Fire & Rescue was dispatched to help near Township Road 542.

Firefighters arriving on scene quickly set up traffic management to control the area and ensure the safety of motorists and first responders.

 

Minor injuries reported

Officials say minor injuries were reported, with those involved treated at the scene. No serious injuries have been confirmed.

Firefighters remain on scene assisting Action Towing & Recovery Service as the vehicles are removed and the roadway is cleared.

 

Investigation underway

A traffic update has been posted through 511 Alberta, and the Kitscoty RCMP detachment is currently investigating the collision.

 

Roads remain slick

Drivers travelling in the area are being warned that road conditions remain slick, and motorists are urged to slow down and drive with caution.
