Ardmore 4-H members showcase speaking skills at Communication Day

Published On: March 5, 2026By

Members of the Ardmore 4-H Beef Club took to the stage earlier this year to demonstrate their public speaking and presentation skills during the club’s annual Communication Day.

The event was held February 22 at the Cold Lake Agriculture Society, where youth participants presented speeches and demonstrations before a panel of judges. Communication Day is a key part of the 4-H program, helping members develop confidence, leadership, and the ability to clearly share ideas with an audience.

Six judges evaluated competitors across two categories: presentations and speeches.

Judging the presentation category were Catherine Bonneau, Jennifer Dusyck-Johnson, and Dawn Weber, while Alyssa Krawchuk, Dr. Megan MacLeod, and Kelly Johnson served as judges for the speech category.

Presentation winners

Top honours in the presentation category went to:

▪️ Junior: Ezra Pointras Beriault
▪️ Intermediate: Lisa Pardell
▪️ Senior: Stella Purdy and Autumn Cory

Speech winners

In the speech category, there were no junior competitors this year. Winners included:

▪️ Intermediate: Ellen Livingston
▪️ Senior: Cora Lee

The first-place winners from each division advanced to the District Communication competition on March 1, representing the Ardmore 4-H Beef Club.

Communication Day is an important milestone for 4-H members each year, giving youth the opportunity to practice speaking in front of an audience while building valuable life skills that extend far beyond the club program.
