The Elk Point Fire Department is looking for new members as it opens its spring intake for volunteer firefighters.
Residents interested in serving their community are encouraged to apply before the March 23 deadline.
A Chance to Serve the Community
Firefighters with the Elk Point Fire Department play a vital role in protecting the community. Members respond to a wide range of emergencies including fires, vehicle collisions and medical calls.
Responsibilities include fire suppression, vehicle extrication, rescue operations, responding to dangerous goods incidents, medical assistance, ice and water rescue and fire prevention activities.
Training Provided
New recruits will take part in regular weekly training and department meetings, which are held on Tuesday evenings.
Firefighters are also encouraged to participate in additional specialized courses throughout the year. Training opportunities may include:
▪️ Wildland firefighting
▪️ First aid certification
▪️ NFPA 1001 firefighter training
All training is provided by the department. Previous experience is not required, although it is considered an asset.
