Garner Lake Road Closure Bylaw Moves Forward After Public Hearing
The County of St. Paul has voted to move forward with a bylaw to close and realign a portion of road near Garner Lake.
Council held a public hearing for Bylaw 202517 before giving the bylaw second and third reading and forwarding it to the Minister for final approval.
Planning representative Gary explained the purpose of the change.
“The intent is to actually close the old road plan and then we’ll adopt a new road plan outlined in black where it is within the boundary of the new right of way.”
The proposed change would close the existing road plan and formalize a new right-of-way alignment.
A nearby landowner raised concerns about how the old road allowance would be handled and referenced a longstanding agreement.
“The agreement apparently was longstanding… and so I don’t want to return a signed agreement with Gary’s new idea of how it should be handled.”
After hearing from the public and administration, council voted to proceed. The bylaw will now go to the Minister for final approval.
