The 2026 Cold Lake Air Show is projected to bring in an estimated million in direct economic impact — and organizers are asking the MD of Bonnyville to come on board as a ,000 Recreation Sponsor.

Representatives from 4 Wing Cold Lake presented to council, outlining the scale of the July 18–19 event and its regional draw.

The 2024 show saw more than 30,000 attendees over two days and earned recognition as one of the top military air shows in North America.

“We’re expecting another significant turnout,” presenters told council, noting the event fills hotels, campgrounds, restaurants and gas stations across the region.

Confirmed Performers

The 2026 lineup already includes major headline acts.

The CF-18 Demonstration Team is confirmed, along with the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. Organizers also highlighted additional civilian and military aerial performers expected to round out the show.

The event is designed to be more than aircraft in the sky. Static displays, family activities and on-the-ground experiences are part of the draw.

$8 Million in Direct Economic Impact

Organizers emphasized the financial benefit to the region.

The estimated $8 million impact reflects direct spending in accommodations, food services, retail and tourism-related businesses.

Council members acknowledged the scale of the event and its regional footprint.

However, no immediate funding decision was made.

Decision Pending

Council passed a motion directing administration to bring the sponsorship request back to a future meeting for consideration.

That means the MD has not yet committed funding.

For now, the request remains under review.
