The Lac La Biche Museum has received the 2025 Award of Outstanding Achievement in Audience Outreach from the Canadian Museums Association.

This national award recognizes museum programs that demonstrate innovation, collaboration, and meaningful social impact. Over the past year, the museum expanded far beyond its physical space, delivering more than 50 off-site exhibits and educational programs annually across the region, including schools, libraries, community buildings, and senior care facilities.

Through initiatives such as the Lac La Biche Explorers programs, pop-up museums, and the reminiscence kit program supporting seniors living with dementia, the museum worked to reduce barriers to access, encourage lifelong learning, and strengthen intergenerational connections.

Director Jennifer Mueller emphasized the importance of community partnerships in the museum’s success:

“We are truly honoured to receive this prestigious award from the CMA for our community outreach efforts. Thanks to our incredible partners and financial supporters, our off-site initiatives have allowed us to engage more community members, reduce access barriers, and foster inclusive lifelong learning in the Lac La Biche region.”

The museum is grateful for the community support that makes this work possible and looks forward to continuing to build inclusive, accessible programs that connect people of all ages with local history and heritage.
