The Bonnyville Minor Ball Association says it had no involvement, connection or prior knowledge of the situation currently being discussed publicly and is reaffirming that player safety remains its top priority.

In a public statement released to the community, the association addressed recent concerns circulating locally.

No Involvement or Prior Knowledge

BMBA stated clearly that the individual being referenced in public discussions was not acting on behalf of the association.

The organization emphasized it had “absolutely no involvement in, connection to, or prior knowledge of any situation currently being discussed publicly.” It added that the alleged actions of the individual do not reflect BMBA’s values, standards or conduct expectations in any way.

Player Safety a Top Priority

The association said it has long held a strict commitment to the safety and well-being of all athletes.

As part of that commitment, every coach, manager and volunteer is required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check before participating in any team activities.

According to BMBA, these screening steps help ensure:

  • Only approved volunteers work with youth

  • All team activities occur in a supervised, structured environment

  • Safety remains the highest priority at all times

Zero Tolerance for Misconduct

BMBA said it holds volunteers to the highest standards of professionalism, respect and integrity.

Any violation of those standards — inside or outside the organization — is not tolerated. Individuals who do not meet the association’s safety requirements are not permitted to volunteer, coach or assist in any capacity.

Commitment to a Safe Environment

The association acknowledged that news stories can cause concern in the community and sought to reassure families that strong policies and protective measures are in place.

BMBA stated it operates with clear expectations and safeguards designed to maintain a safe environment for every child involved in its programs.

Anyone with questions about safety protocols, screening processes or volunteer requirements is encouraged to contact the association directly at bonnyvilleminorball@gmail.com.
