Town of Bonnyville Sets April 20 By-Election Following Councillor’s Passing
Bonnyville residents will head to the polls April 20 to fill the vacant council seat following the death of Councillor Brian McEvoy.
The Town of Bonnyville has officially set the 2026 By-Election date for Monday, April 20, 2026.
In accordance with the Municipal Government Act and the Local Authorities Election Act, Council was required to pass a bylaw setting the by-election within 120 days of the vacancy.
Nomination Period Now Open
The Nomination Period runs from February 11 to March 23, 2026.
Nomination Day will close at 12 p.m. (noon) on March 23.
Residents interested in running for Council can find information at Town Hall or online at town.bonnyville.ab.ca.
Voting Details
By-Election Day will take place April 20 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
An advance vote will also be held, as required under provincial legislation. Details on advance voting dates, times and locations will be shared once nominations close.
